PREAH VIHEAR

Preah Vihear is a northern province of Cambodia. Its capital is Phnum Tbeng Meanchey.
The province is named after the temple of Prasat Preah Vihear

The province is subdivided into 7 districts: Chey Saen, Chhaeb, Choam Khsant, Kuleaen, Rovieng, Sangkom Thmei, and Tbaeng Mean chey.


Preah Vihear Temple is located in a pleasant environment with an attractive countryside slightly east of the mid section of the Dongrek Mountains. It is perched on the edge of a giant cliff, about 625 meters above sea level in Preah Vihear Province, Northern part of Cambodia, 625km from the capital city of Phnom Penh.

ODDAR MEANCHEY



Oddar Meanchey is a province of Cambodia. Its capital is Phum Samraong.
Only 2.6% of households in Oddar Meancheay have access to electricity.
The province is subdivided into 5 districts: Anlong Veaeng, Banteay Ampil, Chong Kal, Samraong, ,and Trapeang Prasat.

BANTEAY MEANCHEY

Banteay Meanchey is a Cambodian province. It is in the northwest of the country, and its capital is Sisophon. This province borders Thailand by the west in Poipet.
The province is subdivided into 8 districts: Mongkol Borei, Phnum Srok, Preah Netr Preah, Ou Chrov, Serei Saophoan, Thma Puok, Svay Chek, and Malai.

RATANAKIRI

Ratanakiri is a province in Northeastern Cambodia. The word "Ratanakiri" is a derivative of two Cambodian words, combined to mean "place of gems and mountains." Its capital, Banlung, is located in the central highlands of the province, approximately 365 miles (586 kilometers) from Phnom Penh. Lomphat, a small town in the southern plains, is the former capital of Ratanakiri. The province is a popular destination for thousands of tourist every year. Ecotourism abounds, due to lush wildlife and remote tribal villages. Most of the inhabitants of Ratanakiri are indigenous minorities. Ethnic Cambodians make up only 10-20% of the total population.

The province is subdivided into 9 districts: Andoung Meas, Ban Lung, Bar Kaev, Koun Mom, Lumphat, Ou Chum, Ou Ya Dav, Ta Veaeng, and Veun Sai.

The two main draws that bring tourists to Ratakiri are its indigenous people groups and its wildlife. The province is home to five main ethnic minority groups, the Tampuan, Krung, Jarai, Kachok, and Brao/Kavet. Their tribal lifestyle and village culture are a popular attraction to tourists from Europe and the United States.


Aerial view of Yak Loum Lake is another popular tourist destination in Ratanakiri. Located approximately 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) from the town center, the beautiful lake is the caldera of a large volcanic crater. Due to the lake's tremendous depth (157 feet/48 meters), its water is exceptionally clean and clear. The lake is almost perfectly round and measures .45 of a mile (.75 kilometer) in diameter. Large trees and rich, lush rainforest, the home of many exotic birds and parrots, surround the lake.

MONDULKIRI

Mondulkiri is an eastern province of Cambodia. It is the most sparsely populated province in the country although being the largest province in Cambodia. Its capital is Senmonorom.This province is chock full of natural beauty, with thickly forested mountains, powerful waterfalls and the lush green rolling hills of the western side. Mondulkiri is a candidate for eco-tourism in Cambodia.

80 percent of the Mondulkiri's population is made up of ten tribal minorities, with the majority of them being Phnong. The remaining 20 percent are Khmer, Chinese and Muslim Cham. The population lives off the land, planting rice, fruit trees and a variety of vegetables. Others grow strawberries, coffee, rubber and cashew nuts. Although more and more houses are built in 'Khmer style', you still can find the traditional Phnong houses. In the houses you'll find big jars, which are said to be more than a thousand years old, and traditional gongs. There are various sorts of gongs used at different occasions. Jars and gongs are among the most valuable possessions of indigenous communities both in traditional and spiritual as well as material terms.

The province is subdivided into 5 districts: Kaev Seima, Kaoh Nheaek, Ou Reang, Pich Chenda, and Sen Monourom.


Many majestic waterfalls are found in Mondulkiri:

Bou Sra Waterfall : Located at Pich Chinda District, 43 kilometers from Sen Monorom by a very difficult road (to be upgraded in 2005). Bou Sra is the most beautiful waterfall in Modulkiri and has three stages.

Sen Monorum Waterfall: Locates at Sen Monorum District in five-kilometer distance from the provincial town by red soil trail, Along either sides of the trail, there are industrial plantations like rubber, coffee and cashew as well. The local people usually meet each other at Sen Monorum waterfall during the holidays and national festivals because it closed to the provincial town.

Rum Near Waterfall : 10 kilometers from Sen Monorom, located near rubber, coffee, cashew, mango and avocado plantations. At the waterfall, there are many big trees projecting a cool shadow to the area.

Chrey Thom Waterfall : 43 kilometers from Sen Monorom. The provincial Tourist Office promotes this waterfall as the top tourist site instead of Bou Sra which is inaccessible during the rainy season.
